It's not every day you see an event that requires a "Quad L" section! The Charlotte Chess Center hosted Wednesday Action Quads at the Main/South location on January 24, 2024, featuring 48 players gathering for three rounds of USCF-rated chess.
The top-quad winner was Krishnan Warrier, who scored 2.5/3 and made a last round draw to clinch clear first place. Warrier was also our highest-rated participant this week, entering at 2076 USCF.
We had some huge rating gainers this week, including Trishona Kumar (1460 -> 1566), Nishita Jaikumar (1347 -> 1430), Ritvik Kumar (1048 -> 1185), and Ankit Biswas (1038 -> 1151).
In Quad C, CCC Coach Jay Garrison gained 82 rating points of his own with a perfect 3/3 score, while Andrew Horton gained 85 for his perfect score in Quad D. The very most points gained by any one player was Nichol Garrison in Quad L. She added a total of 191 rating points for her 2/3 score, only losing to quad winner Imhotep Collins. It was a great evening for the Garrisons!
Here are the winners of each quad:
