Packed House, Wakefield Still Perfect at Tuesday Night Action

The Charlotte Chess Center hosted the fourth round of this month's Tuesday Night Action on January 23, 2024 at the Main/South location. A packed house of 64 (!) competitors attended to play round of USCF standard-rated chess, with the top two sections also FIDE-rated.

Tuesday Night Action is held at the Main/South location every Tuesday evening. Each week, following a lecture by FM Peter Giannatos, participants are paired into one standard-rated game. Here are the winners from January 23:

Top: Karthikeya Malireddy, Michael Kliber, Naitik Rathi, and Nirav Natha

U1750: Charles Cameron, Sattwik Dutta, Jason Bailey, Benjamin Raz, Brent Jenkins, Travis Caskey, Daniel Burkhart, Anvay Phadke, Andrew Khariouk, Daniel Schipper, and Steven Libonati

U1300: Joshua Wakefield, Joshua Rubanenko, Nandhan Gummi, Kevin Nguyen, Neil Harit, Douglas Samson, Luke Johnson, Druv Balamurugan, Ritvik Kumar, Satvick Kumar, Peter Prakash, Avery Bradley, Carlene Pyne, Carlos Venegas, and Daniel Dieringer

After last week, there were no players on 3/3 in the Top section, but Mario Pineda-Bermudez and Joshua Garber were both perfect in all three weeks in the U1750. However, neither player recorded a win this week, so the only player still on a perfect score through all four weeks of Tuesday Night Action is Joshua Wakefield in the U1300 section!

The next Tuesday Night Action will be held on January 30. We hope to see you there! In the meantime, remember you can always submit games to be featured in these reports using the link below, or the QR code at the Chess Center.
