Charlotte Chess Center Hosts Scholastic Practice Tournaments!

Every month, the Charlotte Chess Center hosts two unrated "practice tournaments" for scholastic players, one at each location. These events are for players in grade 8 or below and are meant to simulate the conditions of a USCF-rated tournament for those newer to competitive chess play.

Any student who scores at least 2.5/3 in a practice tournament, at either location, earns a gold medal!

The following players won a gold medal at the CCC North location:

3 points (perfect score): Grayson Lane, Arya Harsha

2.5 points: Jerome Lindsey, Mark Arkhipov, Bode Devan, Bhargav Raghavendra, Tanish Medi

The following players won a gold medal at the CCC Main/South location:

3 points (perfect score): Shawn Lee, Fitzgerald Lore, James Newton

2.5 points: Laura Gu, Tanner Malloy, Austin Martin, Jacob Thompson, Abigail Wu

Each gold medalist also qualifies to play in our NEW Tournament of Champions event! The Champions Tournament is scheduled for May 4, 2024 and will feature four rounds, with 35+ trophies awarded as well as Grandmaster-led activities.

Our next practice event will be held on March 9. Use the links below to register:

For upcoming tournaments, bookmark our Events Schedule. The CCC hosts nearly 8 events a week at our facilities in North and South Charlotte, along with with bi-monthly major events such as the upcoming 2024 Charlotte Open.
