The 2025 Charlotte Open Scholastic is a 5 round US Chess-rated tournament held alongside the 2025 Charlotte Open. It is open to all players aged 13 or younger with ratings under 700 (or unrated).

ELIGIBILITY
K-8 players only (age 13 and under)
Players must be unrated or rated under 700 based on the January 2025 US Chess rating supplement.
TIME CONTROL
G/20, inc/10
Each player begins with 20 minutes and receives a 10 second bonus per move.
PRIZES
Trophies to top 10, based on US Chess standard tiebreaks.

Withdrawals / Refunds:
Scholastic: $5 transaction fee until January 16, 2025.
50% refunds after Janaury 16 until 1 hour before round 1.
Byes:
Up to 2 optional half-point byes, request before round 1.
All byes requested during tournament are zero points.
Boards, sets, clocks provided (must use our equipment).
January 2025 US Chess Classical (OTB) ratings used for pairings and eligibility.
This event is US Chess rated. US Chess membership is required.
All registration (online and on-site) closes 1 hour before round.
Trophies to top 10, based on US Chess standard tiebreaks.
By registering for or attending this event, players and guests grant permission to CCC to take and use photographs and video for purposes related to the event.
