OVERVIEW

The Charlotte Chess Center is proud to host the 2025 Pan-American Intercollegiate Team Championship and US Collegiate Blitz Championship.


Collegiate chess teams from universities, colleges, community colleges, and technical colleges from the Americas and the Caribbean are welcome to join. See eligibility requirements below.


The events are both US Chess and FIDE rated.

  • Main event registration online – coming soon.

  • Onsite registration permitted until Thursday, Jan 2 at 1pm

  • Blitz – register for free onsite after round 3 of the main event (Friday, Jan 3)

G/90, inc/30

Each player receives a base time of 90 minutes. After every move, 30 seconds is added to the clock.

Mandatory Technical Meeting: 3:30pm-4:00pm

Opening/Light Food: 4:45-5:45pm

  • Top 4 teams qualify for the 2025 Final Four College Chess Championship

  • Trophy to overall championship team

  • Plaques to:

    • Top 4 teams

    • Top Division II team (avg rating 2000-2199)

    • Top Division III team (avg rating 1800-1999)


Under 1800 Section

  • Trophy to top team

  • Plaques to:

    • Top 4 teams

    • Top Division V team (avg rating 1400-1599)

    • Top Division VI team (avg rating under 1400) NEW


Cross-Section Awards

  • Top international team

  • Top community college

  • Top small college (under 5,000 enrollment)

  • Top all-female team

  • Top mixed doubles team (at least 2 males and 2 females)

  • Top team upset across 6 rounds

INDIVIDUAL PRIZES

Plaques in each section to:

  • Top individual boards 1-4

  • Top alternate

  • Top 3 female players

US COLLEGIATE BLITZ

  • Friday, January 3 beginning at 9:30pm

  • 2 Sections: Open, Under 1800

  • Time Control: G/3, inc 2

  • 6 single rounds, US Chess and FIDE blitz rated

  • Free entry, register onsite after round 3 of main event

  • Plaques to top 8 individuals in each section




ENTRY FEES

$240/team by December 10, 2024

$260/team by December 20, 2024

$280/team after December 20, 2024


All teams must also complete the Student Eligibility Form by January 1


Registration should be completed by the team captain. Team captains will be able to use the registration portal to add members to the team and change board order.

GENERAL RULES

  • Please read CCC Terms and Conditions

  • Please read Official Pan-Am College Chess Rules

  • All teams must also complete the Student Eligibility Form by January 1

  • Event is both US Chess and FIDE Rated

  • FIDE rules apply, unless otherwise outlined in the Pan-Am College Chess Rules document.

  • Withdrawals/Refunds

    • $25 transaction fee until December 20

    • $50 transaction fee December 21 - January 1

    • No refunds after Jan 1

  • Boards, sets, and clocks are provided in all sections – must use our equipment.

  • All prizes must be claimed on-site.  No mailed prizes


TEAM RULES

  • Each team must submit their roster by Jan 2, 1pm

  • All teams must designate a team captain/coach

  • Submitting team line-ups is due 1 hour prior to each round start.

    • Use this form to submit your team lineup.

    • If you do not submit a line-up, the one from the previous round will be used.

RATINGS USED

  • January 2025 US Chess regular ratings used for team averages.

    • See Pan-Am College Chess Rules above for FIDE and CFC rating conversions.

    • For rating adjustments, coaches may challenge a rating used for their own player. Coaches may not challenge ratings for players not on their team.

    • For coaches who want to have their players' rating adjusted, the coach must submit the change along with documentation showing that their player meets the criteria for the change/adjustment.
